Stress Awareness Week

International Stress Awareness Week – Resilience and mental wellbeing in times of uncertainty  – 4th to 8th November 2019

International Stress Awareness Week takes place in the first week of November every year. This year, the International Stress Management Association’s flagship annual event will run from Monday 4th – Friday 8th November.

The International Stress Management AssociationUK created the week to raise awareness of stress, stress prevention and the importance of wellbeing for individuals and organisations – ensuring those who are suffering from stress seek advice.

The week also provides an opportunity for ISMA members to showcase their skills and start dialogues with businesses and individuals in their local area, delivering workshops and presentations in the UK and around the world.

The theme for this year’s International Stress Awareness Week is Resilience in uncertain times.

A considerable amount of resources has been invested in technical, supply-side, and operational aspects of dealing with a possible British departure from the EU. However, how much attention is being given to assisting the country’s most expensive asset – ‘Our People’ to build resilience to manage the uncertain time ahead?

Carole Spiers, Founder International Stress Awareness Week and ISMAUK Chair said:

“Our aim is to keep resilience and mental wellbeing high on the national agenda, together, through the promotion of wellbeing in the workplace as part of International Stress Awareness Week. This year’s event will highlight the importance of resilience in both corporate and personal lives, and the overwhelming need to cultivate the power of bouncing back from on-going challenges.”

Professor Stephen Palmer, President, International Stress Management Association said:

“Enhancing resilience and wellbeing should be a top priority for organisations and communities. International Stress Awareness Week and National Stress Awareness Day will keep them on the agenda.”

ISMAUK members have prepared for a full week of events including:  ISMA annual conference ‘Resilience – the power to succeed’ which will fall on the last day of the Week on Friday 8th November at NCVO Society Building in central London.
